A medieval village suspended between sea and hill, on the Ionian coast of Calabria, in the province of Cosenza. About 1,800 residents, a historic centre of stone houses clustered around the 11th-century Templar Castle, and a pebble beach that has earned seven consecutive Blue Flags.
Roseto lives on fishing, olive groves, and a handful of alleys that fill with visitors in summer and fall silent again at night. It's the kind of place you've never heard of until you get there, and then can't stop thinking about.
The nearest airports are Bari (about 170 km, 2 hours by car) and Lamezia Terme (about 190 km, 2h15). Both connected by direct flights from many European cities, including London, Paris, Warsaw and Krakow.
Take the A2 Mediterranean motorway exit at Sibari, then 20 minutes along the SS106 Ionian coastal road. About 3 hours from Naples, 5 from Rome, 9-10 from Milan.
Roseto Capo Spulico Marina station is on the Taranto-Reggio Calabria Ionian line, with connections from Bari (about 2 hours) and from Naples with a change at Sibari or Taranto.
The easiest way to reach Roseto from Bari or Lamezia Terme airports is to rent a car right at the terminal: major international companies (including Avis, Hertz, Europcar, Sixt and Maggiore) have desks at both airports. We recommend booking online in advance, especially in high season, and checking that unlimited mileage is included, the coastal road invites plenty of stops along the way.

June and September are the golden months: the sea is already warm, temperatures are pleasant, and there are far fewer tourists than in July and August. July and August remain the busiest months, but the village, being small, never really loses its character. From October to April, Roseto turns quiet and becomes perfect for those seeking Pollino trekking, seasonal cuisine and lower prices.
