For fresh fish, the restaurants overlooking the sea in the Marina area serve seafood spaghetti and mixed fried fish done properly. Honest prices, genuine atmosphere. For Calabrian country cuisine, the trattorias of the historic centre offer pasta with breadcrumbs, crushed peppers, homemade nduja, lagane and chickpeas. Wood-fired pizzas in the evening are worth the trip.
Dishes to try at least once: lagane e ceci, rosamarina (spicy salted sardines), fileja with goat ragu, pipi e patate, and to finish tartufo di Pizzo or red mulberry granita. Local wine from Ciro and Pollino accompanies everything.
